AMERICAN GUERRILLA: The Forgotten Heroics of Russell W. Volckmann Book Now Available

In my article about Russell Volckmann MacArthur Left But Volckmann Remained it was mentioned by Luis Mendoza in the comments that I might want to order the newest book about him and I did just that.

The newest book is:

AMERICAN GUERRILLA: The Forgotten Heroics of Russell W. Volckmann- the Man Who Escaped from Bataan, Raised a Filipino Army against the Japanese, and became the True “Father” of Army Special Forces [Hardcover] – Mike Guardia (Author)

It should be shipped out in the next few days and I’m really looking forward to reading this latest book because it’s supposed to cover more of his life than the book he wrote.  I suspect it’s more of a tribute to the man than he would naturally have done himself.

  1. Carol,

Good to hear. I hope you have a chance to read the book soon. I finished it recently and I was very pleased. Its a fine tribute to the man himself and his accomplishments in the Philippines and in the SF community. The author makes a very strong argument that Volckmann is indeed the “father” of Special Forces.
