Even if you aren’t a subscriber to Ancestry, now is the time to take advantage of their current free offer to search their military records collection. The Military Collection is quite extensive and could be a real boost to your family research. It covers conflicts from the Revolutionary War to WWII and other conflicts. This includes newsreel footage, and I can see that having a clip of one of the more memorable events could be something someone could add to a Power Point presentation for a family reunion, or a Memorial Day gathering.
- Don’t stop there though. First of all, to keep yourself from getting confused and wasting precious time during these ten free days, take the time to make a list of your known ancestors who served in the military.
- Don’t forget the women who served.
- Don’t get discouraged. If you have a list of several men and women to search for, prioritize the list and look for the ones who you think you have the best chance of finding their records. Or, concentrate on just one. Good luck! 🙂
