GrabPress WordPress Plugin For Quality Videos Now Served Here

Grabpress

Grabpress

We’re trying out a new WordPress plugin for this blog to enhance the amount and value of articles here. They will be in the form of videos and the feed for them will be through the GrabPress plugin created by Grab Media, and auto-posted at least once a day. So far, the sources I have chosen for the videos are Martha Stewart Living and LeGourmet.tv. Those two should be family friendly enough for all my readers. I hope that there will be some interesting recipes the plugin will auto-post for me. No, this isn’t a cooking blog per se, but food cooked by my ancestors is one of my interests, so it’s not too far off the mark. ;)

If you’re considering using GrabPress on your WordPress blog it is very easy to download the plugin and upload it to your blog via your dashboard. From there, you will find how to customize it using the “gear” looking icon in your left menu bar.

How GrabPress Works

The Grabpress plugin gives your editors the power of our constantly updating video catalog from the dashboard of your WordPress CMS. Leveraging automated delivery, along with keyword feed curation, the Grabpress plugin delivers article templates featuring video articles that compliment the organic content creation your site offers.

As an administrator, you may use Grabpress to set up as many feeds as you desire, delivering content based on intervals you specify. You may also assign these feeds to various owners, if your site has multiple editors, and the articles will wait in your drafts folder until you see a need to publish. Additionally, for smaller sites, you can automate the entire process, publishing automatically and extending the reach of your site without adding work to your busy day.

To get started, select a channel from our catalog, hone your feed by adding keywords, set your posting interval, and check the posting options (post interval, player style, save as draft or publish) for that feed to make sure the specifications meet your needs. Click the preview feed button to see make sure your feed will generate enough content and that the content is what you are looking for. If the feed seems to be right for you, save the feed and you will start getting new articles delivered to your site at the interval you specified.

I’m not an affiliate of Grab-Media, so this is just an informational article for WordPress blog authors.

Subscriber News For The Genealogists #Genealogy Daily

GG Daily Screenshot.png

The Genealogists Genealogy Daily Publication

You may not even be aware of it, but I also have a Paper.li publication that I created some time ago. The name of it is, as you can see, The Genealogists Genealogy Daily. When I began tweeting on Twitter the first account I had was as @webduck with strictly a genealogical or historical focus. That hasn’t changed at all. The Genealogists Genealogy Daily gets all of its stories from those who primarily tweet about …genealogy or history. That was done through making a Twitter list of my friends and that feed fuels the list.

You Can Be A Contributor and A Subscriber

It’s free to read the Daily (please subscribe!), and if you would like to be in the feed for the Genealogists list, there are only a couple things you need to do: 1. contact me via Twitter (@webduck) and 2. Tweet predominantly about genealogy and/or history. I try to keep the feed free of commercial tweeters even though they may have a genealogical bent. Right now, there are 309 in the list.  [Disclosure] I do have some of my own affiliate links on the sidebars. The main focus though is to promote the genealogy community and how much fun it is to trace your ancestors!!

Industrial PC vs A Commercial PC: What’s The Difference?

What is a Commercial PC?

The computer for home use is the most typical Commercial PC example. It’s environment is controlled, and the usage is most likely by a few select individuals. They can be networked, or used on a stand-alone basis. Little or no shock or vibration is expected at the work station; it is able to withstand little or no power surges and so it’s imperative the machine has some sort of surge protection. They are most commonly seen in the desktop configuration, or perhaps as a laptop. Many times they are not built for longevity, have limited expandability, and reside in a “tower” or in some other contained unit like a laptop.

What is an Industrial PC?

Industrial usage of a PC is much more robust because the PC (or many, depending on the industry) reside in a much more harsh environment. It could be a “shop floor”, which could also include a mobile use such as in a helicopter, out in the field in a tractor, and in any space that might have some of the following factors:

Temperature: If they are deployed appropriately, many industrial computers can be rated to operate at 109 F (43 C) or higher.

Dust: Contaminants can also be a factor, and so external cooling fans can be attached to the chassis and have special filters.

Industrial Computers also should have: an uninterrupted power supply; they can be relied on to work in humid conditions; expandability to last for extended periods of time; easy access to the unit for needed service (reduced downtime); depending on the desired use, the industrial computer can be on a swivel arm, rack mounted, or in a panel.

In summation, it is unlikely you would be able to use a personal computer in any industrial environment. They just wouldn’t be able to withstand the “abuse”.

Adding Pin Button Attraction Can Cause Serious Traffic Explosions

There’s a new kid on the WordPress plugin block, and this blog is now using it to enhance the traffic we already have.

What makes Pin Button Attraction special?

Pin Button Attraction is so easy to install and use. After purchasing it, I received my email with a link to the download location; it took just a few seconds to download the plugin and install it on this blog. [Note: always back up your blog before installing new plugins!] Next, I adjusted the settings to my preferences and that was it, it was ‘live’.

What is Pin Button Attraction for?

You know Pinterest is all the rage now and it doesn’t look like it’s going to fade away anytime soon. Now is the time to take advantage of that by allowing your images on your WordPress blog to be “pinned” by other people. The way it works is that when someone clicks an image to see it larger it has your own Pinterest pin button right on it to make it easy for them! Here, take a look at what I mean…

This is from a recent blog post about some Kentucky War of 1812 Veterans that you can view at War Of 1812 Veterans KY – John Hurt and Josiah Beckett

You have a choice in the settings for the plugin to have just the Pin It button, or the Follow Me on Pinterest one, or both. I will eventually change my setting and just include the Pin It button hereafter.

Imagine This Pin Button Scenario

You come here and like one of my images. Click on it to make it bigger and up comes the image with a Pin It button on it. You say, “Hey, Carol’s images are so cool. I’d like to pin some to one of my boards”. Click, click, click and off my images go to whirl around the interwebs creating backlinks to my blog and therefore creating link love and joy. Imagine that feature on your blog too, multiply it by a gazillion times and we all get lots more people visiting and enjoying our blogs. Win-Win!

This is an affiliate post, but I believe this is a great plugin and that’s why I’m recommending it. Interested? Get Pin Button Attraction for your WordPress blog.
