Those blacks were known after that as black Cherokees. They were to be given representative and full rights with other Cherokees in the Cherokee nation. The non black Cherokees in the past couple of years decided to forbid Black Cherokees to vote, to have representation or to participate in government. The Cherokee nation in in treaty with the U.S. to give black Cherokees full participation and to have the US government approve the elected official under the Chiefs Act. The Cherokee nation is violating its treaty for the purpose of racism against its black members. I think HR2824 is an appropriate response to the racist actions of the Cherokees. Read the entire text of the bill yourself so you can see what's really happening on this. The Cherokees want a sympathetic relationship with the U.S. base on their Cherokee race, yet they themselves would do no such thing to their own members. How ironic. Imagine how cold it is when you live in poverty forced on you like the Indians, and your residence doesn't have even an adequate heat source. Worrying about someone growing hemp is just ludicrous when they should be more concerned with their well-being. I hate linking but this show aired back in July, here is the PBS link http://www.pbs.org/pov/pov2007/standing/. If you get a chance it is a really good show. They were going broke and started farming hemp for clothing and other things, then they started getting raided by the FBI because the government considers hemp to fall in with marijuana.
