Wonderful insight! Not being a handwriting analyst, I had no idea the way our writing was evolving. I do think we need to continue to teach cursive writing to children in school. Why shouldn't they learn this, even though it may not be used as much any longer. After all, some of the things they teach now in my opinion are absolutely useless. Thanks for the post, Carol.

That is a great resource. I'm gonna note this for future reference for our children as I'm sure they will have family tree projects for school. I remember doing one when I was in school and our family tree is huge. Something like this will definitely help.

I have always known that my Flowers family ancestors owned slaves. Maybe James McCracken did also, but I haven't yet found evidence for either family. My father, Willis Flowers McCracken, had a black nanny, and taught me to have love and care for all ethnicities. My daughter noticed a black woman athlete surnamed Flowers, and asked me if we could be related. I still haven't pursued that possibility in my research. Any black surnamed Flowers from a family from Anson County, NC, is probably descended from slaves owned by John Erasmus Flowers.
