iPentimento Best Genealogy Moment 2009
iPentimento | Genealogy and History’s Best Genealogy Moment of 2009 has to be when a kindly soul such as Thomas MacEntee began our group on Facebook and then took it one step further and made genealogy available to all with his blog GeneaBloggers.com.
Sometimes, that’s what it takes… just one person to bring a group of like-minded people together with one common interest. From a small group we have grown to 825 members on Facebook. That’s a lot of genealogy blogs, don’t you think?
Randy Seaver at GeneaMusings has posed the question, “What was your best genealogy moment of 2009?” Wow, that’s a good one Randy! I feel like every little tidbit of information has been a gift in some way.
My second choice for Best Genealogy Moment would have to be when I was able to share with my friends Carol and Bill that his ancestor’s name was really George O. Barlow. Through the kindness of the people who take photos of headstones and post them on FindAGrave, I was able to show them the headstone for George, as well as for his daughter Nettie May Barlow who married Jacob Callahan in Grey Eagle, MN. Nettie was the Great Grandmother of Bill Hohensee.
Now, it’s a new year, with new challenges, and I’m anxious to get back to genealogy and share some more history with you all. Happy 2010!
