iPentimento Smile For The Camera – Oh Baby!
Keyword for the 7th Edition of Smile For the Camera is “Oh Baby!” I have tons of baby pictures for many of my family members. Do you? Some, I find quite amusing, and some just terribly sweet and innocent. It’s hard to pick a favorite, so I will choose some of from the category “people no longer with us” so I can identify them by name. Here goes!
The above is a picture of my dad William Gale Yates when he was just an innocent little baby. He got much less innocent just a few short years later.
Dad was born 16 March 1920 in West Plains, Missouri.
Above: Lydia Yates. Lydia was the daughter of my Great Uncle Lem Yates. She was born 24 December 1918 here in Washington State. Her mother was Della Baughman. The photo was taken by Jeffer’s Studio, Olympia, WA.
And, last but not least, is this baby picture of my Great Aunt Cerilda Yates. She was born 24 December 1900 near Brandsville, Howell County, Missouri to parents Jim and Cerilda Breedlove Yates. My Great Grandmother died a few days later on 02 January 1901 of what they called “*child bed fever”. The younger Cerilda was the 9th child born to Cerilda and Jim Yates. This is one of my favorite baby pictures in the family photo collection because I find it fascinating to see her dress, the chair she is seated in, but most of all, that droopy nipple on her baby bottle.

Those are great photos! I love old photos!
I do have a few myself. One of my mom, one of her and her brother when he was very young, and one of my great uncle (my grandmother’s oldest brother) where he was wearing a dress, as was the custom back in the day.
Those are some very interesting old photos. I like looking at photos from different eras–I don’t know what it is, but it’s fascinating.

If you all are enjoying seeing the old photos, I hope you will visit often. Since I am the caretaker of the family pictures, and there happens to be a very large amount of them, I figure I am set for things to write about for a good long time.
Very interesting photos. I think with the new digital technologies, we have gotten away from some of the great photography that was done several years ago.

Hey those are good pictures and good to remember people. We don’t have many at such a young age; ones taken maybe when they were just few years and those are really cherished ones!
I love the photos. I like looking at different photos from different eras because I like to see how much has changed in time. I agree with you on the pictures. I would have to say I like your Great Aunt Cerilda Yates’ picture as well. Photos tell stories and if you have more, please post them. I would love to check out other photos.
That picture of Lydia is an invitation to laugh!
