Some WordPress Plugins Worth Their Salt
If you are using WordPress, there are just some plugins that you (and your blog) cannot live without. Well, at least, I can’t. I use some of them because I am not very good at blogging yet, and some because they make the blogging process so much easier. Here are a few of the many I really like. (I like and use more, but these are worth mentioning) If you have any plugins that you use that you think should be mentioned here, please comment, or link to this post!
Advanced-Admin-Menus - My friend Chris at Thermal uses it too, and it does make the dashboard so much easier to use. Confession: I did find it hard to see all the items in the menu until I remembered to use my down ? arrow key. ![]()
Mister Linkey’s Auto Linky Widget - If you participate in any of the MEMES during the week, using this widget means all you have to do is put in a tiny bit of code like [blenza underline autolink code] (replacing the word code with tt for Thursday Thirteen, etc.; the word underline with _ ).
One Click Installer – I LOVE this plugin! All I have to do is download the zip file to my desktop, go to the dashboard in WP and click on One Click Installer and my plugin is installed and ready to be activated.
One Click Updater – Adds an “update automatically” link to plugin update notifications.
PJW WordPress version – Monitors for wordpress version updates and displays info in the admin screen.
WordPress Automatic Upgrade – I have used this plugin for the last two WP upgrades, and it was great. One thing though, the “automatic” part of the plugin doesn’t work for me. But, the trade-off is that I have to go through about 5 steps. Piece of cake! No doubt, this plugin is being tweaked even as we speak.
WordPress On Demand Backup – On-demand backup of your WordPress database. Navigate to Manage ? Backup to get started.
OK, right now, those are my faves. I am trying to not get all “plugin happy” and have too many of them. It is like a kid in a candy store though. ![]()

And there are some others. I tend to stay away from the ones that want to do things like update my site for me automatically… never know when they can go wrong.

The automatic update ones that I have just send me alerts, and I get to choose what I want to do with them. I try to backup regularly too, so if something does go wrong…
