This Cemetery Photo Will Make You Cry

Every time I look at this picture, I get furious all over again. I can’t begin to tell you how it makes me feel to know my 3rd Great Grandmother Deborah Holmes Yates Morrison, her father John Holmes, and her two brothers James Register and John C. Holmes are all buried in Shiloh Cemetery near Kingston, Roane County, TN, and that this was allowed to happen.

There are only 66 graves in this cemetery, and how many headstones do you think are in that pile? How did they ever get any of them back where they belonged? I found the photo on Find-A-Grave , along with the caption underneath. You know, I’m a pretty realistic person, and I get it that these things have happened since the beginning of time, but there are suppose to be laws in this country to protect cemeteries so that things like this don’t happen.

Now, here’s the kicker….on the same page describing the photo there is also this notation.

Cemetery notes and/or description:
It is on private property with a locked gate at the entrance. If you leave a note in the mailbox with your phone number, the owner will call you and let you know when you can visit.

I tell you what, if I had the money that twit would be the ex-owner of the property and it would never happen again. I still have family that lives in this part of Tennessee, but I guess they don’t ever go to that cemetery. I mean, it’s just down the road from them!

These are my family gravestones in the cemetery. I don’t know when the photos were taken though.
