This Coffee Lid Is Going To Be HOT!

Have you heard about Smart Lids yet? No, well, I predict that you will when they catch on here in the States (aka the land of the coffee addicts) sometime soon. At least, I hope they will catch on here. And why not?!

Here’s how it works:

The innovative lid alerts consumers their coffee/tea may be too hot by changing from a dark coffee bean color to a bright red when the lid is applied.

Is Your Lid On Correctly?

This could be an economic boon for any hot beverage purveyor who worries about being sued by morons who put their hot coffee in their laps and then cry foul when they get burned. See the brown rim around the edge of the lid? That means the area is cool, and if it runs completely around the cup, it means it is sealed too.

This concept is genius, and it is only a matter of time before it catches on everywhere! I, for one, can’t wait! What a great idea! Starbucks, are you paying attention?

I love the idea…a lid that changes color….nice one. It has happened on not just one occasion when you sip your drink only to find it too hot….look forward to sipping a drink that is just right sometime soon.

Thats a fantastic idea. I know it sounds foolish that people are surprised that coffee is hot but when you are trying to get to work, in tough traffic, with the phone ringing, it is easy to get distracted. a lid that gives you a subtle reminder would be helpful.

Great idea, but what I would really like to see is a lid that actually cools the molten coffee to a temp that can actually be drunk! I have burnt my lips way too many times on coffee that should never be that hot in the first place.
