Spreading Viral Genealogy via Entrecard
I don’t mean to give the wrong impression by that title. As you have seen in your internet travels, the trend is towards viral: marketing, socializing, blogging, etc.. So why not for the genealogy niche? Are there some good genealogy blogs that you visit time and again? I have just joined The Genealogists recently and started writing articles that I hope are of some interest to everyone.
But how can we spread the word about our genealogy blogs even more? If you have a genealogy blog, why not create your own Entrecard to garner more traffic from those interested in the topic, as well as those just visiting from other blogs that are not genealogy related?
If you look at this page you will see my Entrecard displayed where everyone can find it easily. My Entrecard is listed in the Hobbies section of the Entrecard site. I would like to see more and more genealogy blogs in that category so that we can promote this truly addictive pursuit. Entrecard is free to use, but not only that, it’s easy too.
All you have to do is create a 125 X 125 ad for your blog, upload it, describe your blog content and get ready for the barrage of blogs that want to advertise on your blog. You get to choose which ones appear. You start out with a few Entrecard credits, and build them by visiting other blogs and buying your own ads through the Entrecard site.

That sounds like a great idea! I have a geneology based site I created for my father which is currently in a classic html site format. I have been meaning to convert it to a wordpress blog (to aid him with entering conent), and then we can connect him to this group to participate.

Hi! Thanks for visiting my site. I am already an Entrecard member and in fact, have dropped you my card a while back. When my mom died last year, I couldn’t find of any thing else to honor her and my father but to make a comprehensive story on our ancestors but I realized it would take so much time and effort. After reading what your blog is all about, I realized that I could start with a GENEOLOGY blog and take off from there. I have lots of nieces and nephews who are members of Friendster, which is the number one networking site in Southeast Asia and maybe invite them to join me.
